OVERVIEW

The Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic is a computer delivered English language proficiency test taken by candidates desiring to study or immigrate to an English-speaking country. The test aims at real life language skills and assesses the student’s competency for academic English.

PTE is recognized by thousands of educational institutions worldwide and is approved for UK, Australia and New Zealand visa application and immigration.

TEST FORMAT

The test is divided into 3 parts:

  • Writing and speaking (together)
  • Reading
  • Listening

The entire test is taken on same day and takes 3 hours to complete. There is an optional 10 minutes break between reading and listening.

HOW IS PTE MARKED?

PTE provides an overall score and a communicative skill score.

The overall score is a general measure of candidate’s language expertise. This score is marked from a range of 10-90 points.

The communicative skill score explains the module specific abilities of candidate. This provides separate scores for writing, speaking, reading and listening module. This is also marked using a 10-90 point scale.

HOW IS RESULT ISSUE?

PTE is a computer based test and it is checked using artificial intelligence (AI) which gives unbiased results.

The results are available typically after 2 days of exam.

The results are only available online and can be sent to unlimited organizations for free.
